Well, it’s official, the little dude is now ONE.
How did this happen? How did it happen so fast? He’s no longer a baby! I just got an email from Your Toddler This Week: Your 1-year-old (via BabyCenter.com). My toddler?!? Pure craziness, I tell you.
But honestly, he has turned into a toddler and it seems to have happened overnight. Just thinking back to when we were in Connecticut visiting Mark’s family in August (when he was 10 months old) and he was becoming more mobile with his peg-legged crawl and just started pulling himself up with regularity there… and now he’s got these awesome walker toys and he’s moving and grooving all over the place! Just last night he was standing on the edge of the coffee table waiting for popcorn to snack on before bed. Where did my baby go?!?
Back to this birthday business. Mark and I thought long and hard about what we wanted to do for Thad’s birthday. At first we weren’t going to do anything sans a little get together with my parents and brother (the closest relatives from Mark’s family live in Colorado), and then we decided, okay, maybe we can do just family plus a few close friends. So that’s what we went with and it turned out perfect. Since I’m not working I was able to plan the menu and prep during the week and make all the food the night before. I stocked up on beer from Costco (for beer tasting) and might have even picked up a giant teddy bear that I encouraged my friend Cate to claim as the giver via text message. Here’s the picture I sent her (she really enjoyed this text).
Anyway, we had a lovely little party, and though we limited the invites we ended up getting a ton of toys for the little dude. We got load of books (which is what we requested mostly), but he definitely made out like a bandit.
Here’s some pics from the day.
Thad and Max eating ice (don’t worry, they’re not tasting beer).
Thad munching on some home made foccacia that the Carli Cousins brought.
And getting down and dirty with Ellis and the presents…
